A tragic incident has occurred in regional Victoria, where a six-year-old boy, Caleb Wesley, lost his life due to a hit-and-run accident. Despite the efforts of paramedics and witnesses, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident, which took place around 8 am while he was walking along Bannockburn-Shelford Road.
Authorities have interviewed an 84-year-old local woman in connection with the crash, with reports suggesting she briefly stopped at the scene before driving away. She has since been released while police continue their inquiries.

Joshua McEwen, Principal of Covenant College, where Caleb was a student, described him as “inquisitive, friendly, empathetic, and well-loved.” McEwen recounted how Caleb was always eager to show kindness to others, had a passion for learning and an inquisitive nature about the world, recently expressing excitement over losing his first tooth.
“We deeply appreciate the prayers for Caleb’s family and our school community during this tough time,” McEwen remarked. He emphasised not only the need for support for Caleb’s family but also for those affected by the incident, including bystanders and the driver involved.
The community and local churches have rallied around the bereaved family, offering their compassion and assistance. McEwen encouraged everyone to continue prayers as the school and the wider community navigate the aftermath of this heartbreaking event.
