In a dramatic incident in Bowden, Adelaide, quick reflexes from a train driver prevented a potentially tragic accident. An elderly motorist in his 70s mistakenly drove his vehicle onto railway tracks, where it became immobilised in debris. The event unfolded just after 6:30 pm, leading to an immediate response from police and railway personnel.
Witnesses described the concern for the driver, who had realised his perilous situation and exited his car to seek assistance. Fortunately, the driver of an approaching train spotted the stranded vehicle in time. According to witnesses, the train emitted warning honks as it approached, ultimately coming to a stop approximately 30 metres from the impeded car.
One witness remarked, “I was just worried… he can’t pull it out because he’s stuck.” The train driver’s quick actions, along with the timely warnings, ensured there were no injuries reported in the incident.
