A heartbreaking incident occurred in Queensland when a baby boy tragically lost his life following a collision involving the parked vehicle he was in. The infant was inside a silver Jeep Cherokee alongside a 24-year-old woman when the vehicle was stationary on the M1 northbound at Gaven, situated west of the Gold Coast.

The accident happened shortly before 3am, when a grey Toyota Hilux collided with the Jeep near the entrance to Smith Street. Emergency services quickly responded, and the baby was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he sadly passed away shortly after arrival. The young woman driving the Jeep sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 51-year-old driver of the Toyota Hilux, who hails from Loganlea, reported only minor injuries from the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the factors surrounding the crash, as they work to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic event.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the unpredictability of road safety and the importance of vigilance, especially in high-traffic areas. Police continue their inquiries to establish the sequence of events leading to this heart-wrenching accident.
