A tragic incident occurred in a car park outside a tyre shop in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, where a toddler has lost his life after being struck by an SUV. The boy’s mother and her two children were exiting the shop when the accident took place, with the youngest child being hit.
Emergency services arrived shortly after the incident at around 11 am, but despite efforts from bystanders and responders, they were unable to revive the child. Witnesses reported that a man nearby, who was attempting to hire a trailer, rushed to the scene and performed CPR on the toddler.
It has been noted that the driver of the SUV was manoeuvring the vehicle within the busy car park when the incident happened. Local business employees remarked on the high traffic in the area, highlighting safety concerns. In the aftermath, Major Crash Investigation officers have responded to the scene and secured the SUV for further examination, while Safework SA has also announced that it is conducting an investigation into the incident.
