A tragic accident on the NSW Far South Coast has resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy and injuries to three others. The collision occurred between a dual-cab ute and a truck on Towamba Road in Nullica, located approximately 10 kilometres south-west of Eden, at around 4:10 pm yesterday.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver of the ute, a man in his 30s, and two young girls aged eight and three were transported to hospital for treatment. The younger girl was airlifted to Randwick Children’s Hospital, while the man was taken by air to a hospital in Canberra. The older girl was driven to South-East Regional Hospital in Bega for care.
The truck driver, believed to be in his 50s, was also taken to Bega Hospital for mandatory testing and treatment for shock. Authorities from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As a result of the crash, part of Towamba Road, near the Princes Highway, remains closed as the investigation continues. This devastating event has deeply affected the local community, highlighting the tragic consequences of road accidents.
