A tragic accident occurred in south-east Queensland late last night, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to ten others. The incident took place around 9.40 pm on Gympie Arterial Road in Bald Hills, northern Brisbane. At the time, a Hyundai Imax and a Honda Odyssey were stationary on the shoulder of the right lane when a Toyota Hiace van collided with them from behind.
The woman, a passenger in the Honda Odyssey, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Emergency services transported ten individuals to the hospital, where they received treatment for various injuries. Among them, three men are in critical condition, suffering from life-threatening injuries, including head and limb trauma. The remaining seven injured, consisting of four females and three males, are reported to be in stable condition.
In the aftermath of the collision, Gympie Arterial Road remained closed for four hours but was reopened to traffic early this morning. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, and police forensic crash investigators are examining the scene.
