Transurban, a leading transport firm and toll road operator, has announced plans to eliminate approximately 300 positions to streamline its operations. CEO Michelle Jablko stated that the company is committed to enhancing mobility and safety in major urban areas, which necessitates a more agile and efficient structure. The decision to reduce the workforce follows a comprehensive review aimed at updating the company’s operational model, with changes expected to be implemented by May 2024.

Jablko expressed regret over the job cuts, noting that the immediate focus will be on handling the transition with sensitivity and providing necessary support to affected employees. The company anticipates that these reductions will significantly trim costs, projecting savings of over $50 million. A portion of these savings will be redirected towards growth initiatives that aim to better the customer experience.

Overall, Transurban’s strategy reflects a broader commitment to stakeholder interests while preparing the company for future challenges and opportunities in the transportation sector.
