A third Australian man has been taken into custody in Bali following a deadly shooting incident over the weekend, which resulted in the death of 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic and serious injuries to his friend, Sanar Ghanim, aged 34. Ghanim was reportedly shot and assaulted during the attack.
The suspect, Darcy Francesco Jenson, 37, was apprehended at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta while allegedly attempting to leave the country. Authorities have confirmed that two other Australian men—one aged 23 and another aged 37—have also been arrested as part of the investigation. All three individuals are believed to have played roles in both the planning and execution of the shooting, as stated by Bali Regional Police Chief Inspector General Adityajaya. He also hinted at the potential involvement of additional conspirators.
Investigators have seized crucial evidence linked to the incident, including six motorbikes and two getaway cars thought to have been used during the shooting. Additionally, items found at the crime scene such as bullets, a bag, a passport, money, and a hammer have been collected for analysis.
The charges facing the Australians could include premeditated murder, a serious offence in Indonesia that could lead to the death penalty. Ghanim, now recovering from his injuries, has been relocated to a new apartment in Canggu post-hospitalisation. Meanwhile, Radmanovic’s family has consented to an autopsy, which is expected to take place soon.
This incident has cast a dark cloud over the usually serene Bali, raising concerns about safety in a popular tourist destination. As the investigation unfolds, further developments are anticipated regarding the motives behind the shooting and the broader implications for those involved.
