The mother of missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop has shared an emotional update as the search for her daughter enters its 11th day, raising concerns about her welfare. Kylie Johnson expressed her family’s anguish in a heartfelt Facebook message, stating that their hearts are breaking further each day without news of Pheobe.
Kylie articulated the profound distress the family is experiencing, describing how they feel overwhelmed by uncertainty and relentless emotions, including tears, anger, and frustration. She mentioned that Pheobe’s younger brother is confused about why she isn’t responding to calls, highlighting the impact of the situation on the entire family.
Emergency services have intensified the search efforts, which encompass land, water, and aerial searches in bushland areas around Bundaberg. A significant focus has been placed on the Good Night Scrub National Park, situated about an hour from Bundaberg, where police divers and a drone were deployed for further investigation.
Authorities are appealing for public assistance, particularly for anyone who might have seen a grey Hyundai ix35 in the national park on the day Pheobe went missing, May 15. This vehicle was later seized by police and has been labelled a crime scene, though officials have not confirmed whether they are reviewing footage of the vehicle in the park.
Pheobe, a 17-year-old with a height of approximately 180 cm, pale complexion, long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes, was last seen by her housemates when they dropped her off at Bundaberg Regional Airport around 8:30 am on May 15. She had intended to fly to Western Australia but never entered the airport or checked in for her flight. Since then, there have been no verified sightings of her or her luggage.
While the homicide squad is involved in the investigation, authorities remain hopeful for Pheobe’s safe return. As the search continues, community support has been strong, with many hoping for a positive resolution to this distressing situation.
