In 1966, Australia had various coins in circulation, including halfpennies, pennies, threepences, sixpences, shillings, florins, and crowns. The transition to decimal currency, while causing some confusion, was ultimately regarded as the most straightforward solution. However, the suddenness of this change caught bank robber John Killick off guard when he attempted to rob an ANZ bank in Sydney on the very day of the switch.
