An Adelaide pensioner, Wayne Anderson, 71, is pleading for the return of his recently stolen e-bike, which serves as his primary means of transportation. After saving for five months, he purchased the bike for $2500 and invested in a new lock, only to have it stolen from his carport just 48 hours later.
The theft has caused significant distress for Anderson, who admits he struggles to sleep at night worrying about the loss. His mobility has been severely impacted, preventing him from regularly visiting his friends at the Glenelg Jetty, an activity that brought him joy.
In support of Anderson, a local resident named Tim has initiated a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising $1800 to buy him a replacement e-bike. Known as “the Godfather” among friends for his wisdom, Anderson turned to an e-bike after facing numerous setbacks with mobility scooters: one was stolen, another caught fire, and a third simply broke down.
Despite these challenges, Anderson remains hopeful, though no suspects have been apprehended, and his bike remains missing. The community’s support highlights the impact of such thefts on vulnerable individuals and underscores the need for safer environments.
