Police have published CCTV images of suspects involved in a robbery at a luxury clothing store in Melbourne, highlighting the rising demand for illicit high-end fashion items. The incident took place on March 10, around 3 am, at a boutique on Chapel Street in South Yarra, where three masked individuals broke in by smashing a window and stole $21,000 worth of merchandise.

The intruders, believed to be in their late teens or early twenties, quickly ransacked the store, grabbing valuable items such as T-shirts priced at $160 each and hoodies retailing for $300. After loading their haul into a black hatchback, they sped away from the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone who was in the vicinity during the break-in or who has information about the suspect’s vehicle to come forward. Witnesses and those in possession of CCTV or dashcam footage are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit an online report.

This robbery appears to be part of a troubling trend, with a series of similar smash-and-grab incidents targeting high-end fashion outlets in the city recently. Just a day after the Chapel Street robbery, a vehicle crashed through the window of the Fendi store on Collins Street, while other luxury brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton have also been victims of such raids.

As these crimes escalate, police continue to investigate and seek clues from the public to help apprehend those responsible.
