Tom Eisenhuth, a dedicated forward for the Dragons, has announced his immediate retirement from rugby league at the age of 32. Previously a key player for the club, Eisenhuth played every game last season, showcasing his consistency even amid a challenging year for the team.

This year, however, a series of injuries, including a concussion during the pre-season trials, has hindered his performance and led to his decision to retire. It is anticipated that he will make a formal announcement regarding his retirement within the next day.

Despite stepping away from on-field play, Eisenhuth remains committed to the sport. He is respected within the Dragons organisation and hopes to transition into a coaching or junior development role at the club.

A product of the Penrith junior system, Eisenhuth made his NRL debut with the Panthers in 2012, although he played only one match before gradually moving through the ranks. His return to the top level came with the Melbourne Storm in 2019, marking a remarkable comeback after nearly 2400 days away from the NRL—an extraordinary record in the league.

During his time with Melbourne, under the guidance of coach Craig Bellamy, Eisenhuth appeared in 58 games over five seasons, establishing himself as a reliable and hardworking player. His transfer to the Dragons last season was a significant move, and his persistence on the field during 2024 was commendable. However, his current injury struggle and subsequent retirement represent a significant loss for the team as they navigate their season.
