BRISBANE: The highly anticipated Wallabies versus British and Irish Lions Test on Saturday night will be broadcasted in 4K for the first time, featuring an impressive array of 30 cameras that will capture the event from every conceivable angle at Suncorp Stadium. Over 100 crew members are involved in this production, which comes as Australia seeks to secure its first Lions series victory since 2001.
The coverage will showcase a lineup of rugby legends, including Martin Johnson, Tim Horan, Michael Hooper, Sonny Bill Williams, and Allana Ferguson, among others. Leading commentary will be provided by Sean Maloney, alongside hosts Michael Atkinson and Nick McArdle.
In a significant upgrade, a new drone camera system equipped with a parachute will extend its coverage capabilities, while for the first time on a Lions tour, point-of-view cameras will be utilised in the dressing rooms of both competing teams. Additionally, a ‘Raptor Cam’ will provide aerial footage enhanced by augmented reality graphics specific to the Lions tour. Viewers can expect a total of seven different transmission feeds, each offering unique perspectives, including a Stan Sport UHD feed and several international feeds.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 PM AEST, with pre-match coverage starting at 7 PM on Stan Sport. The Lions are currently unbeaten in their tour of Australia, having won all five prior matches, raising expectations that they may sweep the upcoming three-Test series. However, Wallabies captain Harry Wilson has expressed confidence in his team’s preparations, stating, "We feel like we’re in a really good place."
The Wallabies’ squad includes prominent players such as Tom Wright, Max Jorgensen, and Captain Harry Wilson, while the Lions will feature stars like Hugo Keenan and Maro Itoje.
