In 2025, research conducted by Numbeo, a platform specialising in quality-of-life metrics, identifies the most perilous countries in the world, revealing that half of these nations are located in the Americas, alongside two from the Middle East.
The ranking involved assessments across 146 countries, focusing on public perceptions of crime. This included evaluations of general crime levels, feelings of safety, and apprehensions regarding specific types of crime, encompassing both property and violent offences.
The nations perceived as the safest were Andorra, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Taiwan, and Oman, taking the top five positions in the rankings. In contrast, Australia was positioned at 82nd place, while the United Kingdom was not far behind at 87th.
