NRL player-turned-media personality Cooper Johns fortunately emerged unscathed from a dramatic car accident in Sydney on Wednesday afternoon. The son of esteemed NRL figure Matty Johns and nephew of legendary Andrew Johns, Cooper flipped his white Subaru on Dacey Avenue but was unharmed in the ordeal.
In a light-hearted Instagram post, Johns shared an image of his car upended on the road, cheekily captioning it, "Can’t park here." Despite the chaotic situation, he expressed gratitude for escaping without any serious injuries, thanking fans for their support following the incident.
Speaking on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show the next day, Johns recounted his experience, stating that he was on his way to record a podcast when the crash occurred. He struggled to recall the details but believed a taxi swerved into his lane, causing him to collide with its tyre, which launched his car into the air. He described the moment the accident happened: "I was driving along in my Subaru… My first memory is just feeling the hit of the tyre." The police noted that the taxi driver was remarkably unharmed, with no damage to his vehicle, while Johns’ car ended up tumbling onto its roof.
Reflecting on the incident, he remarked, "Scary stuff yesterday, glad to be out unscathed," explaining that he felt "dazed" and initially feared he had seriously injured someone in the taxi. Although he did not sustain critical injuries, Johns is now managing some discomfort from whiplash and a concussion.
As he continues to recover, Cooper Johns remains appreciative of his safety and the community’s concern, embodying a resilient spirit in the face of an alarming experience.
