Tasmania is set to host ten fortunate mainland visitors for an exclusive experience of its premier tourist attractions. These winners of the “winternship” will indulge in a variety of unique Tasmanian activities, including working as a barrel butler at a whisky distillery, caring for Tasmanian devils, navigating a sauna boat, and enjoying the scenic beauty of Launceston’s Cataract Gorge.

The “winterns” will receive complimentary flights, two nights of accommodation, and car hire to enhance their stay. To apply, candidates must express their suitability for the role in a short application. Sarah Clark, the Chief Executive of Tourism Tasmania, has stated that the winners will be carefully selected by local tourism operators.

Clark highlighted that 68 per cent of Australians would prefer to escape the winter months, suggesting a strong interest in travel during this period. She anticipates that the experience will not only encourage these visitors to return for holidays but might even inspire some to consider relocating to Tasmania.

Applications for this unique opportunity will open tomorrow and will remain open until June 17.
