During a recent operation aimed at curbing knife crime on public transport in Sydney, police arrested 24 individuals over the course of two days. Officials confiscated eight knives and discovered twelve separate drug stashes, alongside issuing a total of 61 fines related to public transport violations.
As part of this enforcement effort, authorities also apprehended five teenagers linked to a series of reported assaults and robberies in the Parramatta, Burwood, and Strathfield areas on Thursday and Friday. The cohort includes three girls aged 13 and 15, as well as two boys aged 14 and 17, who were charged at a residence in Newcastle.
The offences these teenagers face range widely, encompassing serious charges such as aggravated bodily harm, affray, aggravated robbery, theft, and possession of a knife in a public area. These actions highlight the police’s ongoing commitment to enhancing safety and security within Sydney’s transport network, reflecting growing concerns over youth violence and public safety.
The operation, alongside the arrests and seizures, serves as a warning against the growing trends of knife-related incidents in public spaces, aiming to deter individuals from engaging in such behaviour and restoring a sense of safety for commuters.
