An 18-year-old is set to appear in court today following allegations of a sexual assault on a woman in northern Sydney. The incident occurred around 3:30am on Thursday when a 36-year-old woman exited a bus in Neutral Bay after finishing her shift.
As she walked along Wycombe Road, it is alleged that she was approached and grabbed from behind by the accused. Reports suggest that he attempted to silence her by covering her mouth, tampered with her clothing, and forcibly pushed her against a nearby garage door. During this altercation, he is said to have pinned her against the door and removed his pants.
In a bid to escape, the woman reportedly fought back, kicking and biting her attacker, which prompted him to flee in the direction of Military Road. As a response to the incident, police quickly established a crime scene and initiated an investigation.
The young man was later arrested at Manly Police Station on the previous day. He faces multiple charges, including taking someone with the intention of committing an offence, inflicting bodily harm with the intent of sexual intercourse, and performing a sexual act without consent. Following his arrest, he was denied bail and is scheduled to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
