A man has been charged in relation to a tragic hit-and-run incident in Adelaide last week that resulted in the death of a young woman. The victim, a 20-year-old from Greenacres, was struck by a vehicle at approximately 11pm on Tuesday, May 6, while she was on North East Road in Hillcrest. Emergency services responded quickly but, sadly, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Witnesses reported that a silver sedan did not stop following the collision, prompting an investigation by local police. They soon identified the vehicle involved as a 2007 Subaru Liberty. On the following day, police arrested a 19-year-old male at a residence in Banksia Park. He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene after a fatal incident. The accused has been granted bail and is expected to appear in court on July 30.
As part of the investigation, authorities have seized the suspected vehicle for forensic analysis. They are keen to speak with any crash repair technicians who may have worked on or evaluated damage to a silver Subaru Liberty since the incident occurred.
Police are also appealing for further information from the public. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the crash or possesses dashcam footage that might show the victim prior to the collision. Individuals with relevant information are urged to reach out to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or visiting their website.
