Train services between Cabramatta and Granville have been halted in both directions due to significant damage to the overhead wires, as confirmed by images sourced from 9News showing the severed wires. In response to the disruption, replacement bus services have been established, with a total of 14 buses currently operating to assist commuters.

Transport for NSW has indicated that repairs are anticipated to be completed by approximately 3 pm. Despite the interruption, train services will continue to run via Regents Park, allowing passengers to transfer at either Lidcombe or Cabramatta to complete their journeys.

Transport Minister John Graham highlighted the challenges a single track failure can inflict on the broader Sydney train network, drawing from past experiences that have shown the fragility of the system. He expressed frustration over the incident, describing the destruction of the signal wire as a reckless act that complicates an already intricate transport system. The Minister assured the public that Sydney Trains is making every effort to resolve the situation promptly.
