A prominent figure in Sydney’s social scene, Vanessa Jacobs Fennell, found herself in police custody for much of the weekend following an alleged assault on a police officer. The incident unfolded in Bellevue Hill, Sydney’s eastern suburb, where the luxurious SUV she was driving reportedly collided with several parked vehicles.
Eyewitnesses observed the aftermath, noting visible damage to Jacobs Fennell’s Range Rover, including dents, scratch marks, and shredded tyres. Diners at the scene intervened to assist, pulling Jacobs Fennell from the vehicle before the authorities arrived. One bystander informed The Sydney Morning Herald that she appeared intoxicated and had been driving erratically in the vicinity.
When police arrived and attempted to escort her to a police van, Jacobs Fennell allegedly broke free and struck one of the officers. She now faces multiple charges, including refusing a breath test, assaulting police, and failing to provide her details to the owners of the damaged vehicles.
Despite having been a contender for the Real Housewives of Sydney, she did not make the final cast. Previously, gossip columns portrayed her as a charitable fundraiser. After spending a night in police custody, Jacobs Fennell was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Waverley Court on April 1.
