Sydney experienced a distressing night with two distinct public shootings prompting investigations by New South Wales Police.
The first incident occurred around 8pm on Queen Street in Croydon Park, where multiple gunshots were directed at a residence occupied by several adults and children. Eyewitnesses reported seeing an individual standing in front of the house before firing two shots from a pistol. At the time of the incident, a 44-year-old man, along with three women aged 40, 51, and 71, and two children aged five and six, were inside the home. After the shooting, the assailant fled in a hatchback, which was last observed heading north on Travistock Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the attack is believed to have been targeted.
Later that night, at approximately 11:25pm, another shooting took place in Prairiewood on Calabria Lane, where shots were fired into a unit. An 80-year-old woman was inside during this incident, but she also remained unharmed. Investigators suspect this shooting could have been a case of mistaken identity. A white Ford Ranger was seen in the area around the time of the shooting.
Authorities have stated that there is “no evidence” linking the two shootings, and they are urging anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to reach out to Crime Stoppers.
