High-profile Sydney rapper Blake Turnell, known by his stage name “Chillinit,” has been arrested and charged with several offences following a confrontation at Hurstville’s Humphrey’s Hotel on Saturday night. The incident reportedly involved Turnell allegedly pushing his wife during an altercation, a claim he vehemently denies.

In an exclusive interview with 9News, Turnell expressed his distress over the accusations, asserting that he would “never ever do something like that.” He emphasised that those close to him, including family and his partner, would support his character. Reflecting on the event, the 31-year-old stated, “There was an incident involving a couple of people and I’ve tried to diffuse it… in hindsight I probably should have walked away, lesson learned there.”

Following the confrontation, Turnell was taken into custody and has since pled guilty to a charge of malicious damage related to a broken shop window, indicating his willingness to cover the repair costs. His legal representative, Ahmed Dib, expressed confidence that the other charges against Turnell would ultimately be dismissed, citing CCTV footage that reportedly shows him attempting to de-escalate the situation rather than instigating it.

According to a statement from NSW Police, they responded to the scene shortly before midnight on Saturday, June 14, following reports of a 31-year-old man allegedly pushing a 29-year-old woman and damaging property by kicking a glass door. As a result, Turnell was charged with common assault in a domestic violence context and malicious damage.

Turnell is scheduled to appear in Sutherland Court on July 30 to address the charges.
