A police sergeant from Sydney has been charged with drink-driving after returning a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading almost four times over the legal limit. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, following a single-vehicle accident on Memorial Drive in Bellambi at around 8.15pm. Authorities from the Wollongong Police District responded to the crash and found the 50-year-old officer unharmed.

After being taken to Wollongong Police Station for a breath analysis, she recorded a BAC of 0.196. Consequently, her driver’s licence was immediately suspended. She has since received a court attendance notice for driving with a high-range PCA and is set to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday, March 18.

Her employment status within the police force is currently under review following these developments. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding the behaviour of law enforcement personnel, particularly in relation to public safety and conduct.
