A man in his 40s has sustained severe injuries after a machete attack in Tregear, Sydney, early this morning. At around 4am, he was discovered wandering near a shopping area on Aurora Drive, covered in blood and in a semi-conscious state. It is believed he was assaulted in a nearby unit, prompting immediate attention from a group of tradies who noticed him and stepped in to help.
Paramedics swiftly arrived and provided treatment at the scene before transporting the victim to Westmead Hospital, where he is being treated for significant stab wounds to his head and hand. Local shopkeepers have expressed their frustration over ongoing violence from residents of nearby flats, citing a troubling number of instances involving shoplifting and assaults in the area.
