Large parts of New South Wales are bracing for more thunderstorms today, as warned by the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM). Following significant rainfall across the state, including Sydney, the forecasts predict heavy downpours, large hail, and damaging winds throughout the day. The primary focus of these severe weather conditions is on the eastern areas, particularly along the coast.

Senior meteorologist Angus Hines indicated that the afternoon, from 2 PM to 8 PM, is expected to be a critical period for storm development across various regions in New South Wales. Additional potential for severe thunderstorms may affect central areas including Scone, Merriwa, Murrundi, Gulgong, and Dunedoo.

While senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury mentioned a slightly calmer forecast today, risks remain for heavy rainfall and strong winds, particularly along the east coast. As conditions remain humid with temperatures around 28 degrees in Sydney, thunderstorms could become intense again.

Residents are advised to prepare for the possibility of flash flooding and avoid driving through floodwaters. The NSW SES has achieved a rapid response to previous storms, which saw significant calls for assistance, stressing the importance of safety measures as further severe weather approaches.
