Sydney’s public transport system is currently facing significant disruptions, causing widespread train delays. Commuters are being advised to explore alternative travel methods amidst these issues.
The delays stem from urgent signal repairs that took place earlier today at Ashfield, resulting in service interruptions throughout the afternoon. This has led to overcrowding on platforms across the city as frustrated passengers await their trains.
Affected services include the T1 North Shore and Western Line, T2 Inner West and Leppington Line, T3 Liverpool and Inner West Line, T9 Northern Line, as well as the Blue Mountains Line and Central Coast and Newcastle Line.
In an effort to mitigate the inconvenience, buses are being deployed to replace some train services, specifically between Hornsby and Berowra, Campbelltown and Macarthur, and from Olympic Park to Lidcombe.
The Transport Management Centre recommends that passengers allow for additional travel time and consider using alternative options, such as Sydney Metro or buses, to avoid further delays. The situation is ongoing, particularly as peak hour approaches, and commuters are urged to stay informed about service changes.
