The Queensland government has announced the establishment of a new 60,000-seat stadium at Victoria Park, which will serve as a key venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics. This major facility will host athletics events during the Games and will continue to be utilized for Brisbane Lions matches and international cricket in the years to come.

In addition to the stadium, the government has confirmed the construction of a new national aquatic centre in Spring Hill. Designed to cater for 25,000 spectators during the Games, this venue will eventually become the permanent home for Australia’s national governing bodies in swimming, artistic swimming, water polo, and diving. Rob Woodhouse, CEO of Swimming Australia, expressed gratitude to the Queensland government for recognising the long-term benefits that the aquatic centre will provide, stating that it will inspire future generations through the achievements of Australia’s Paralympians and Olympians.

Furthermore, Pat Rafter Arena is set to undergo upgrades to ensure that Brisbane retains its status as a premier tennis location during the 2032 Games, preventing any potential overshadowing by Melbourne Park.

The developments reflect a significant investment in sports infrastructure aimed not only at enhancing the Olympic experience but also at creating lasting legacies that will benefit the community and sporting bodies within Australia for decades.
