Authorities in Melbourne are investigating an unsettling incident involving a student from Caulfield Grammar, a well-known private school. The event occurred yesterday morning around 7.30 am as the 12-year-old girl waited at a bus stop on Albion Road, near the intersection with High Street in Glen Iris.
Reports indicate that a dark-coloured vehicle approached her, and a man inside the car asked if she wanted a lift. Fortunately, the girl chose to walk away and boarded the bus, remaining unharmed physically.
Meg Adem, the deputy principal of Caulfield Grammar, addressed the situation in a statement to the school community, confirming the encounter. She highlighted the importance of discussing safety with students and families, especially regarding how to handle unexpected situations. Adem noted that the student had declined the offer and mentioned that the school has since provided support to the student and her family, while also referring the matter to the police.
Detectives are currently looking into the case and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. This incident serves as a reminder for parents and guardians to engage in proactive conversations about safety and responses to unforeseen encounters with strangers.
