St George Illawarra has issued a statement following the emergence of a TikTok video showing a Dragons supporter throwing a meat pie at a Bulldogs fan during Saturday’s match, which the Bulldogs won 28-20 at Jubilee Stadium. The contest was notably tense, highlighting the long-standing rivalry between the two teams, who are slated to face off in Las Vegas next year.

In their statement, the Dragons decried the incident as “anti-social behaviour.” They acknowledged the circulating video, asserting that they are aware of the negative conduct exhibited by one of their fans at the match. The statement emphasised, “The Dragons condemn any such behaviour in the strongest terms and will assist the NRL in addressing any violations of the spectator code of conduct.”

The club extended its sincerest apologies to the Bulldogs fan affected by the incident, committing to facilitate communication between the two clubs to convey their regrettable sentiments directly. “As a club, we want all fans, both home and away, to always feel safe at our games. Any behaviour that causes others not to feel safe will be acted upon,” the statement continued.

Importantly, the Dragons were keen to highlight that the actions of an individual do not reflect the overall conduct of the crowd, which was described as respectful and supportive, given the sellout attendance from both fanbases. The emphasis was placed on the need for all supporters to enjoy a safe environment at matches, reinforcing the club’s stance on responsible fan conduct.
