A sports instructor faces charges related to the alleged historical indecent assault of two boys from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The NSW Police launched an investigation in April, focusing on claims of indecent behaviour that reportedly took place between 1999 and 2007.

This inquiry led detectives to Southport on the Gold Coast in Queensland, where they apprehended a 50-year-old man at his residence. He has been charged with eight counts of aggravated indecent assault against a victim under authority.

The suspect has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on October 20. During the court proceedings, police are expected to present allegations that the instructor committed indecent assaults on the boys multiple times throughout the six-year period in Sydney.

Support services are available for those affected. For sexual assault, domestic and family violence support, individuals are encouraged to contact the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service at 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732).
