A family in Perth is grappling with a challenging future following the tragic passing of Jaspreet Singh, a devoted husband and father. Singh’s wife, Amandeep Kaur, received the heartbreaking news of his death from an emergency alert text after his truck collided with a freight train. Their 12-year-old son, Samarveer, shared the distressing details, recalling how the message indicated the crash location.

Jaspreet Singh, aged 41, was remembered as a hardworking and gentle man who cherished his family. Both Amandeep and Samarveer have paid heartfelt tributes to him; with Samarveer expressing how much he misses his father, often calling his dad’s phone just to listen to his voicemail. The young boy described his father as “heartwarming” and “really kind”, admitting that he feels a profound sense of loss and loneliness in his absence.

Originally from India, the family relocated to Australia in 2018, with Jaspreet working towards residency in the country. Tragically, his sudden death has left Amandeep facing uncertainty regarding her own residency status. A fundraiser has been initiated to support the grieving family during this difficult period. Samarveer has shared his desire to fulfil his father’s dreams and ensure his mother’s well-being, expressing a hope that they can remain in Australia.

As investigations continue into the incident that occurred at the Cardup railway crossing on May 5, the family navigates their profound grief and seeks a way forward without their beloved Jaspreet.
