The mother of missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop, Kylie Johnson, has made an emotional appeal for public help as the search for her 17-year-old daughter nears its third week. Pheobe was last spotted on May 15, the same day she was scheduled to board a flight from Bundaberg to Perth but never arrived at the airport.
Despite extensive police searches, including efforts in challenging bushland, investigators have yet to find any trace of Pheobe. In a poignant video statement released today, Johnson expressed her anguish and urged anyone with information to come forward. “This is a pain no family should endure,” she stated, highlighting the deep emotional toll the uncertainty is taking on her family. She described Pheobe as a loving and kind person, adding that each day without knowledge of her whereabouts is devastating.
Kylie urged that even the smallest piece of information could potentially aid police in locating her daughter. It was noted that Pheobe’s housemates, Tanika Bromley and James Wood, were the last to see her at 8:30 am on May 15, when they allegedly dropped her off at Bundaberg Regional Airport. Both individuals have since been charged with unrelated weapons offences, and their home in Gin Gin has been designated as a crime scene, with a grey Hyundai being seized for investigation.
Authorities are also seeking any sightings of a grey Hyundai ix35 around the Gin Gin area between May 15 and 18. Johnson communicated her resolve regarding the ongoing investigation, stating, “It will not be over until we find Pheobe,” while expressing a flicker of hope that her daughter may still return home, even as she broached the possibility of a harsher reality. “If the worst-case scenario has happened, I at least need to know where she is resting,” she lamented, imploring those with knowledge to step forward.
The police have indicated that they are exploring multiple avenues of inquiry as the investigation continues, with the Gin Gin area remaining the focal point of their efforts.
