Thredbo, located in the NSW Snowy Mountains, has welcomed its first snowfall of the year. A light dusting has graced the mountain, sparking excitement among the locals and visitors. The Thredbo resort shared the news on social media, stating, “We woke up to a fresh (small) dusting of snow across the mountain this morning—a light blanket, but enough to get the stoke levels rising.” The resort is eager for winter, declaring, “Winter is warming up, and Thredbo is ready.”
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, there remains a possibility of additional snow showers throughout the day, particularly at higher altitudes. The odds of snow are estimated at 20% above 1800 metres, with a lesser chance for areas above 1400 metres. However, this snowy interlude is expected to be brief, as sunny weather is anticipated for the remainder of the week. Looking ahead, another cold front is predicted to move across the state next week, hinting at more wintry conditions to come.
