The M5 East tunnel is currently closed for traffic heading towards the city. Motorists are being redirected off the motorway via Bexley Road. An alternative route is to exit earlier at the King Georges Road off-ramp, allowing drivers to take the D5 as a detour. As a result of the closure, congestion is beginning to form on the M5, so it’s advisable for drivers to factor in additional travel time and remain vigilant on the roads. Emergency services and traffic management teams are present at the scene to assist.
