Shooting at Toronto pub leaves 12 injured, according to police

Authorities reported that a shooting at a pub in eastern Toronto left a dozen individuals injured late Friday night. The incident occurred near Progress Avenue and Corporate Drive around 10:40 PM, prompting a swift response from police who confirmed that multiple individuals had sustained injuries.

Initially, Toronto paramedics indicated that 11 adults had been wounded, with injuries varying from minor to critical. However, later updates from police revealed that the number of injured had risen to 12. While most injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, the severity of some injuries remained unconfirmed.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspect donning a black balaclava fleeing the scene in a silver vehicle. In light of the unfolding situation, authorities have advised the public to avoid the area.

Toronto’s Mayor, Olivia Chow, disclosed that she had communicated with Police Chief Myron Demkiw, who assured her that all necessary resources were mobilised in response to the shooting. She characterised the investigation as ongoing and urged the community to remain vigilant, promising that further details would be shared by the police as they become available.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Mayor Chow expressed her sympathy for the victims and their families during this troubling time.
