As Donald Trump issues indirect warnings to Iran, significant negotiations are set to commence in his absence. Vice President JD Vance is currently on his way to Pakistan to engage in peace talks, while the Iranian delegation has already arrived at the negotiating venue.
While Vance travels to the discussions, Trump has taken to Truth Social to express his hardline stance. He stated, “The Iranians don’t seem to realise they have no cards, other than a short-term extortion of the World by using International Waterways.” He further claimed that the Iranians’ continued survival hinges on the negotiations taking place.
Despite the unusual circumstance of Vance leading the talks, delegating such responsibilities is not uncommon among world leaders when it comes to peace negotiations. However, Iranian leaders are likely to approach the discussions with caution, especially considering that tensions escalated during previous dialogue attempts back in February.
