A significant accident involving a B-double truck has resulted in multiple injuries after it rolled and collided with two other vehicles near Sydney. The incident took place at approximately 3pm on the Bells Line of Road in Kurrajong Hills, leading to the closure of the road as emergency services, including police, ambulance, Fire and Rescue, the State Emergency Service (SES), and the Rural Fire Service, were dispatched to the scene.
Emergency responders faced a challenging situation, with one individual trapped in a car for over an hour, as noted by Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry. Among those injured, a woman in her 50s was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in critical condition due to serious leg injuries. Additionally, a man in his 50s was transported to the same hospital, where he remained in a serious but stable condition, suffering from chest and leg injuries. Another man in his 60s was taken to Nepean Hospital, where he was reported to be stable with back injuries.
Superintendent Dewberry indicated that the Bells Line of Road will remain closed for an extended period while authorities manage the aftermath of the crash. According to Live Traffic reports, the closure extends between Darling Causeway and Hermitage Road.
