A travel kettle has been recalled due to a serious design flaw that poses a risk of severe injuries. Australia’s product safety regulator issued a recall for the Valley Sisters’ DUCK4X4 Travel Folding Electric Kettle after discovering it fails to switch off automatically once the water reaches boiling point, as it lacks an automatic shut-off feature.

Consumers have been warned that this oversight could lead to overheating, resulting in serious burns or potential property damage from fire hazards. The kettle, which was manufactured in China, was available for purchase through the online retailer Oz Off Road between November 1, 2024, and March 30, 2025.

Affected customers are strongly advised to cease use of the kettle immediately and to reach out to Oz Off Road for a full refund on the product. Safety authorities emphasise the importance of returning the faulty appliance to prevent any accidents.

This recall highlights the necessity for thorough safety checks on kitchen appliances, especially those intended for travel, to ensure they meet safety standards and do not pose risks to users. Customers are encouraged to remain vigilant about the products they purchase and ensure they are aware of any recalls that may affect their household items.
