A man from Queensland faces serious charges related to domestic violence and the possession of semi-automatic firearms. Following reports of extensive domestic abuse, Whitsundays Police executed a high-risk search warrant at a residence in Walkerston. During this operation, officers discovered semi-automatic rifles along with high-capacity magazines filled with ammunition.

The 39-year-old man on the premises has been charged with multiple offences, including serious domestic violence-related charges such as stalking and deprivation of liberty, as well as two counts related to weapon possession. Acting Inspector Scott Ingram emphasised the police’s dedication to supporting domestic violence victims, asserting that everyone deserves to live free from the fear of such violence. He also made it clear that illegal firearms are unacceptable in the community and that law enforcement will persistently target those who possess them illegally.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on September 8. In the meantime, support services are available for those affected by domestic violence, including the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service, reachable at 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732).
