Michael Simon Wilson, aged 36, faces a total of 45 charges, including possession of child abuse material, sexual offences such as rape, and bestiality, which were filed earlier this year. In a separate incident, police are looking into the alleged sexual assault of a teenage boy that occurred on April 16 in Coburg.
Wilson is scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 15. Notably, it has come to light that he has a connection with Joshua Brown, a former childcare worker, who is currently facing over 70 charges related to child sexual abuse in Melbourne childcare facilities. Reports clarify that Wilson’s charges are not associated with any offences in childcare centres.
The specifics of Wilson’s relationship with Brown remain unclear. Brown’s accusations stem from alleged abuses involving eight victims at the Creative Gardens Early Learning Centre in Point Cook, which took place between April 2022 and January 2023. Since his arrest, Brown has been in police custody and is also set for a court appearance on September 15.
For their protection due to potential safety concerns, both Wilson and Brown will be held in isolation at Melbourne Assessment Prison until their upcoming court dates.
