Emergency services responded to a distress call at Batemans Bay marina around 8pm on Saturday evening after a 56-year-old fisherman did not return from a day out on the water. The man had set off at approximately 6am aboard his eight-metre Arvor cruiser for a fishing trip and was last heard from around 10am.
In response to his disappearance, search efforts were initiated, involving both sea and air units. These operations extended throughout the night on Saturday and into Sunday, yet the search failed to locate either the man or his vessel. As dawn broke on Sunday, the search continued, aiming to find any sign of the missing fisherman.
