A significant search operation is currently underway for a man named Andy, whose surname has not been disclosed. He was part of a camping group of 15 in Murray-Sunset National Park, located in the north-western region of the state. Andy departed from the Shearers Quarters camping area alone around 11am yesterday to hike along the 8-kilometre Millewa South Bore Track, which leads towards the South Australian border. Since then, he has not been seen.
Authorities are concerned for Andy’s safety due to his limited hiking experience, especially given that he has been missing for over 24 hours. The search efforts are being led by police, with support from the Air Wing, Dog Squad, Mounted Branch, Search and Rescue Squad, and the State Emergency Service (SES).
Described as of Asian descent, Andy stands at 173 cm tall with a slim physique. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black hooded jumper, grey track pants, and black steel-cap boots, and he was carrying a black backpack.
The community is urged to keep an eye out for any information regarding his whereabouts as the search continues.
