Authorities in the Northern Territory are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing incident on Tuesday, where a man reportedly stabbed and assaulted a woman, dragging her along a footpath. The incident occurred around 4:45 am, and witnesses reported discovering blood on the pavement outside an office building on Bagot Street in The Gap, Alice Springs, later that morning.
Reviews of CCTV footage indicate that the assailant used an unidentified object to stab the victim multiple times before dragging her towards Tuncks Road. The police have expressed serious concerns for the woman’s safety and welfare amid their ongoing investigation.
The attacker is described as shirtless, donning black shorts, black shoes, and a light-coloured hat. Meanwhile, the victim was wearing a light-coloured long-sleeved jumper and pants, with her hair styled in a bun or ponytail.
In a bid to gather more information, police have released CCTV images of a car spotted in the vicinity during the assault. Although the occupants of this vehicle are not believed to be connected to the crime, authorities hope they can provide valuable assistance in the investigation. Police are also working to identify the occupants of additional vehicles present in the area at the time.
