Search for Alleged Murder Victim Intensifies in South Australia
Authorities continue their urgent hunt for the remains of Julian Story, believed to be a victim of murder in South Australia. The 39-year-old was reportedly killed at his home on the Flinders Highway in Port Lincoln, leading to the arrest of his partner, 34-year-old Tamika Chesser, who faces murder charges.
Chesser was taken into custody at the crime scene and subsequently moved to a mental health facility, where she remains for treatment. As the search for Story’s remains approaches its eighth day, police and the State Emergency Service (SES) are focused on the Port Lincoln coastline.
Port Lincoln’s mayor, Diana Mislov, has voiced the community’s grief on behalf of Story’s family, underscoring his deep familial bonds. "He was a much-loved individual who didn’t deserve this fate," she stated. Mislov expressed her shock, noting she had watched Story grow up in the community and that the alleged crime is nearly incomprehensible to those who knew him. She added that the family is devastated, highlighting the profound sadness that such violence has struck close to home.
Concerns about mental health were raised as Chesser’s family disclosed that she had recently expressed the need for ongoing mental health support. The mayor acknowledged a lack of adequate mental health resources in the region, calling for more psychiatrists and sustained one-on-one support. "We need comprehensive programs that can truly support those in distress rather than temporary fixes," Mislov emphasised.
The situation remains sensitive as the community grapples with the unfolding tragedy. Resources for those in need of immediate help can be accessed through contacting emergency services at Triple Zero (000).
