During the ongoing sex-trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, an ex-girlfriend, referred to as “Jane” to protect her identity, testified that she participated in sexual activities with male sex workers at Combs’ request. She explained that she engaged in these acts in an effort to feel loved, although she now views this involvement as part of a “cuckold” lifestyle, which she regrets.
Jane’s testimony revealed that she was in a three-year relationship with Combs that ended when he was arrested last September at a New York hotel where she intended to meet him. Combs, now 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, which could result in a prison term of 15 years to life. He remains in custody without bail.
Prosecutors allege that Combs exerted control over women for two decades through violence and intimidation. However, Combs’ lawyers argue that while there was domestic violence in his relationships, all sexual activities were consensual. Earlier in the trial, R&B singer Cassie Ventura testified about her experience with sexual performances in her nearly 11-year relationship with Combs.
During cross-examination, Jane recounted her experiences of participating in drug-fuelled sexual encounters, which she claimed were sometimes orchestrated by Combs on a weekly basis. She expressed her resentment for being led into this lifestyle under emotional pressure, saying she was initially captivated by her feelings for Combs.
As the trial progressed, Jane disclosed her participation in these “hotel nights”, sometimes reluctantly conditioned by a desire to satisfy Combs, and noted that her motivations are becoming clearer through therapy. She had previously felt that these secret sexual experiences were special and avoided passing judgment on Combs, seeking to feel like an escape for him.
In her exploration of her experiences, Jane discovered the terms “cuck” and “cuckold,” recognising that they resonated with her situation, as they describe the dynamic of deriving pleasure from seeing one’s partner with another man.
Throughout the proceedings, her emotional attachment to Combs was highlighted, with Jane acknowledging her current feelings of love for him despite the circumstances. The defence team sought to portray Jane as a willing participant by referencing explicit messages she had sent that indicated her interest in these activities.
Additionally, it was revealed that Combs had faced allegations of violence towards women in pursuit of his sexual desires. A lawsuit filed by Cassie in November 2023 alleging sexual abuse was settled for US$20 million within hours, igniting the current criminal investigation into Combs.
