U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz are set to visit Saudi Arabia for a series of discussions. A Saudi official indicated that the kingdom will play a mediation role in this dialogue. The Saudi delegation will be led by their national security adviser.
While Ukrainian representatives will not be present at the talks, Keith Kellogg, former envoy for Russia-Ukraine during the Trump administration, will discuss a “dual track” of negotiations while in Kyiv. U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned that Ukrainians would eventually participate.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced plans to meet with Trump and other G7 leaders and expressed readiness to deploy British troops to enforce a potential peace deal in Ukraine. He has urged European allies to bolster defence spending and enhance their NATO commitments, while noting the continued importance of U.S. support in ensuring peace.
Simultaneously, Starmer will attend an emergency summit in Ukraine, a critical moment for European security, aiming to maintain unity within the alliance against external threats. Trump has emphasised Saudi Arabia’s significant role in ongoing negotiations, citing the recent involvement of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in facilitating prisoner releases.
