The 19-year-old from Sydney initially made waves with a chaotic Test debut against India last summer but has struggled to back it up, averaging just 16.30 in five matches and failing to exceed 25 runs during six innings against the West Indies earlier this year.
In an effort to turn his fortunes around, Konstas has been sent to India with the Australia A team, while simultaneously reaching out to Hayden for mentorship. The former opener understands the challenges of transitioning to international cricket, having faced his own struggles early in his Test career. Despite his rocky start, Hayden went on to achieve remarkable success, averaging 50.73 across 103 Tests.
