Vic’s Meat, a cherished butcher located in Sydney’s Pyrmont Fish Market, has announced its immediate closure due to an irreparable rift with the market’s management. Established for 11 years, owner Anthony Puharich had intended to move the store to the new revamped precinct set to open later this year. However, Puharich made a surprising announcement on Instagram, revealing the sudden decision to cease operations at the Pyrmont location.

In his heartfelt post, Puharich expressed deep sadness about the closure and the termination of their long-standing relationship with the Sydney Fish Market Authority, effective immediately. He also shared that plans for an innovative new retail concept as part of the redevelopment would not proceed.

Puharich cited recent developments leading to an unfixable breakdown in the relationship with the Fish Market’s management as the primary reason for this decision, stating that it was no longer viable to continue operations at the current site or with the proposed future plans. Despite this setback, other Vic’s Meat locations in Sydney and Melbourne will continue to operate.

The Sydney Fish Market, a staple of the city’s culinary landscape, is undergoing a transformation, with the new venue set to feature a variety of both established and emerging vendors. The closure of Vic’s Meat marks a significant change for the market, as it has become a notable part of its identity over the years. The Fish Market has been approached for further comments regarding the situation.
